Ciao! I have made it to Florence, Italy. The journey here was interesting. It was my first time flying, so most of the time I would watch others to see what they would do. That has worked well for me and I feel confident going back home when the trip is over.
We left from Cincinnati, Ohio and flew to Paris. This was the longer flight out of the two, my sister and I did not get any sleep. It could have been the nerves from flying, but on the Paris to Florence flight we slept the whole time. Now understanding how to fly and navigate around an airport, I want to travel more.
Something I noticed since being here is that the meals are different. Italians have a light breakfast and coffee. I do not see the focus on lunch as they do with dinner. Italians do love a good caffè (coffee). Saying that they have one at breakfast and around 11am. The dinners are heavier since they love to talk and have many courses. It is customary to have a caffè at the end of the meal.
Driving into Florence was wild to say the least. Traffic here is completely different than how it is back home. Cars fly down the roads without hesitation. It is the pedestrians job to look out for cars and motorists. Something else that is different is the heating in our apartment. The heat is controlled and only at certain times will it kick on. Those are a couple differences between Florence and back home.
