During the month of May I found this book called The Nightingale and guys it’s the best book that I’ve bought in a long time!
The setting is in Carriveau, France during World War Two; 1939. Just by that you know it’s going to be about the Nazis’ and concentration camps basically the whole nines. But there’s more to this book.
If you don’t like reading about war or you don’t like to think about what the Nazis did. This book isn’t for you. If you can get by that and want to read a love at war novel, this is for you. I will admit I cried multiple times and I’m definitely not an emotional person.
One of the main characters Isabelle is a strong minded girl that wants to be a change in the war and she wants to fight, so she finds a way to do it. By risking her life daily by delivering secret message to help save people or plan rebellion. This book will keep you reading, but it’s easy to pick up a few days later and understand exactly what’s going on.
The main characters:
Isabelle- fighter, strong minded and won’t stop if something gets in her way
Vianne- Sister to Isabelle, she’s a mother, very emotional but she is strong too, in her own ways
Antoine- V’s husband, goes off to war, I won’t tell you what happens to him… (Evil laugh)
Gaetan- love interest to Isabelle, strong, sweet… Kind of.
This book is highly recommended by me, to everyone really. This book is now in my top five favorites if that gives you another reason to read it.
Thanks for reading, please comment if you’ve read it and like!
