Firenze, Italy is known for all three. The delicious pizza and pastas. Famous fashion designers. The big Italian family.
When I first arrived in Italy the first thing I needed was food. I did not know the variety of food they offered. Italian food is my absolute favorite, so I’m very content in being here. Pizza Napoli is amazing, if we don’t know what to eat, we come here. The guys who work here are very kind too; (right to left) Mario, Francesco, Starr (me) and Chelsey.
Fashion is huge in Italy. Many designers have started their careers here and this is where their roots are. Being able to go to fashion shows for newer designers is amazing. I’m very thankful to Dr. Bush and Mrs. Kipp for getting us into some exciting shows. The show we attended together as a group has been my favorite!
Towards the end of 2016 I realized how important family is to me. The old saying; your family is all you have, could never be truer. On this trip I have been able to learn about family. From Fra. Bernardo, a monk of the church, telling our group that love comes from inside our families. Also today we went to the Museo Deli Innocenti Museum. I have to be honest I didn’t know what it was at first. Once Antonio and Dr. Bush informed us on the history of the orphanage/hospital I was stunned. I am so happy I was able to learn about this place that I had no idea existed.
These experiences that I have gained here in Italy will improve my outlook on life. As a young adult I’m still growing and finding new information, that will help me with future work and life situations.
